A multi-disciplinary production from TNW Ensemble Theater
Step Right Up, Ma’am takes audiences into the hearts and minds of remarkably strong women, both real and mythic, with works by Fabu, Dale M. Kushner, and Danielle Dresden.
In Fabu’s writings, Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud, Nedra Bobo-Boyles brings to life the stories of notable black women in history and their connections to Wisconsin.
Dale M. Kushner’s poems, from her recently published book of poems, M, dive into the transformative experiences of women in myth and history, from desire through loss and grief to awakening. Performed by Liz Light.
Dresden’s work, Henny & the Strawberries, is based on the real-life experiences of her cousins as hidden Jewish children during World War II in the Netherlands. Performed by Eileen Koteles.
Cut paper collage banners, by upstate New York visual artist Milly Charles, literally shape the stage environment.
